Currently, I am working on a number of projects. One to mention, focuses on mitochondrion genomes of humans and there variablity to inflict pathogenic mutations in human protein-coding regions, tRNAs, and rRNAs. Quite frequently this variability in mitochondrion genomes is correlated with an assortment of genetic diseases, generally neurodegenerative and neuromuscular. Therefore, an analysis of mitochondrial mutations is of importance for an understanding of the evolutionary bias of these variations as well as crucial for the awareness of medical geneticists since in many cases understanding the phenotypic diversity and elucidating the molecular mechanisms at the basis of these diseases is challenging.
However, if I'm not persuing science I'm soaking in the rich culture of Barcelona. I like living in Barcelona a lot. Its important for me to have a healthy working enviornment and to enjoy my surroundings as I do here. If im not in Barcelona I'm traveling or simply enjoying the deep outdoors. I love to dive, kayak, spearfish, go for walks and hikes.
